A pub and restaurant in East Ayrshire has announced that it is "permanently closed".

An update on the Sorn Inn's social media page states that the establishment is shut down, and that its Facebook page will no longer be active.

Owners Daven and Karen Miller took over the Sorn Inn back in 2020.

The eatery has had locals guessing their next move for around a year after a series of closures and re-openings.

Last March, we reported how the restaurant was continuing to run, despite the appointment of liquidators to the company which previously ran the business.

David McGinness of French Duncan in Glasgow had been appointed as the voluntary liquidator.

The latest entries in the 'filing history' for the Sorn Inn Ltd on the Companies House website contains information about the 'voluntary winding up' of the company.

Included in this is the liquidator's summary, with a detailed 'Statement of Affairs'.

Under 'Summary of Liabilities', this document mentions a sum of £183,234.75.

A second document, a 'notice of final account prior to dissolution', describes this same sum as "an estimated total liability in respect of non-preferential unsecured creditors".

In this second document Mr McGinness states that he has "received claims from 12 creditors at a total of £51,732.99".

In September, East Ayrshire Council confirmed to the Chronicle that it was looking in to a potential 'change of use' at Sorn Inn, after one source claimed that work was taking place at the restaurant without the required approval.

Now it seems like it's the end for the restaurant in its current form.

The short announcement from The Sorn Inn's Facebook page said: "We are permanently closed and this page is no longer active."
