Mauchline's Ballochmyle Medical Group is to remain closed until next week, it has been announced.

The town's practice had to close early on Friday, December 22 following reports of a car crashing into the side of the building.

Ballochmyle Medical Group, which operates practices in Mauchline and Catrine, announced that the surgery had to close due to an incident, and that the Mauchline building would be closed "for the foreseeable future".

NHS Ayrshire & Arran then provided a further update, saying that the surgery will not open on Wednesday, December 27, Thursday, December 28 or Friday, December 29.

Anyone looking to speak with someone in-person is being advised to go to the surgery at the Catrine Clinic, on Institute Avenue, which the practice says is open as normal.

Now it has been anounced that the closure will be extended utnil next week.

A spokesperson for Ballochmyle Medical Group said: "Mauchline Practice will remain closed until Wednesday 03/01/2024. Catrine Surgery remains open as normal.

"Please do not contact us regarding any pre-booked appointments. The practice is extremely busy following the Christmas closure and staff are working hard to continue services. Any affected patients will be contacted.

"We ask that patients please be patient during this time. We are operating at a reduced capacity and some services may be reduced and you may be contacted to change your appointment.

"Thank you for your co-operation."

It's believed that no injuries were sustained in the crash last week.

A police spokesperson said: "Around 3.15pm on Friday, December22, 2023 we received a report that a car had crashed into a building at The Loan, Mauchline.

"Enquiries are ongoing."
