Robert Burns Academy Pupils recently got to experience Scottish Parliament thanks to an area MSP.
Carol Mochan, a Labour MSP for South Scotland, hosted a delegation of modern studies students from the school at the Scottish Parliament.
Drawn from years S4, S5, S6, the pupils’ excursion to Parliament involved viewing a testy First Minister’s Questions, a lunchtime Q&A with Ms Mochan, and a tour of the Scottish Parliament’s Debating Chamber.
And though the group's journey to Edinburgh wasn't without its hiccups, the MSP said it was a great day for all.
Ms Mochan said: “It was brilliant to have pupils from Robert Burns Academy in Parliament during their school trip.
“Despite a shaky start with a broken-down bus, I was pleased to arrange for them to join the public gallery for First Minister’s Questions and to lead them to the committee rooms and the chamber on a tour.

“I was especially pleased to see how knowledgeable they were about Scottish politics, and it delighted me that so many of them are ready and looking forward to casting votes in the upcoming elections, where many will do so for the first time.
“The pupils and teachers were a credit to the school, and I would like many more schools from across the region to come and see Parliament.”
