The owners of a popular bar and restaurant have thanked locals for their "amazing support" throughout the years, as they look ahead to retirement.

We reported previously how the popular Boswell Arms had been placed up for sale.

Current owners, Robert and Heather Beatson, have been at the helm for the last 23 years, but they are now looking forward to a life after the pub.

They're hoping that whoever takes on the business can continue to build on the great togetherness that they've built over the years.

They said: “We have owned the Boswell Arms for 23 successful years and feel now it's the time to pass it onto another couple or family to keep it moving forward and carry on the community spirit of a local village pub /restaurant which we have built up over the years.

“We’ve had amazing support from locals and we hope the new owners take it on and have as many years of success as we have been fortunate to have.”

Marketed by Christie & Co, the Boswell Arms occupies one of the oldest period buildings in the village.

The pub has built an outstanding reputation for its food and drink and has become a popular spot for locals, due to its position along the road from Auchinleck Talbot's Beechwood Park.

On the market for £395,000, it includes a spacious pub area, a restaurant that can cater to 40 customers, and a three-bedroom owner's house which is adjacent to the bar-restaurant.

Tony Spence, associate director at Christie & Co, which is handling the sale, added: “We are delighted to be acting on behalf of Robert and Heather with the sale of the Boswell Arms, the business trades very well and has the benefit of being located in the town centre as well as having owners accommodation.”
