New Cumnock came together for some Hallowe’en fun last week in a bid to raise money for upcoming projects in the community.

The Hallowe’en Party was held on Saturday, October 30 in the Town Hall and featured a large disco dome, bouncy castle, professional face painter and lots of games and prizes.

Run by the Upper Afton Community Group free of charge, the kids in attendance raised around £300 which was generously matched by group member, Lee Ferguson, meaning a total of £600 will be put back into the area.

Lee explained: “This is solely for Glenafton Drive. The aim is to have the whole scheme transformed within the next few years like pitches at high park and the drive free events in the summer.

“Hopefully we can work together with New Cumnock Development Trust (NCDT) in future as well after we become a legit group. The sky is our limit – a swing park that our weans can attend that’s not covered in glass or falling apart or even worse, getting asked to leave the park because they’re from over the scheme.”

He added: “A massive well done to everyone involved on the night whether you helped out or just turned up with the weans. We smashed it. Being there stressing is one step better than the weans stuck in doors, that’s what New Cumnock is all about.”
