GLENAFTON Walking Football Club enjoyed some tournament success earlier this month.
The New Cumnock side were one of eight clubs invited down to Dumfries to take part in the event at the Palmerston Indoor Arena last weekend.
The tournament started out with a group stage, with the Glens earning a spot in the semi-final thanks to a 5-0 win over Stranraer, a 2-2 draw with Queen of the South and an unfortunate 1-0 defeat against Workington.
Following this, they faced a final four match up with a strong St Cuthbert's side for a spot in the final.
Glenafton started the match well and took a 2-0 lead within the first ten minutes however, their opponents then bounced back well.
They scored two late goals, including an equaliser in the final seconds, to take the match to penalties - and knock the Glens out.
All teams then retired to the Queen of the South Social Club where the trophy presentation was held.
The tournament also helped raise £1,000 which was then donated to a number of charities across the Dumfries area.
A great time was had by all involved - with the team now looking forward to participating again next year!
Representing Glenafton on the day were Billy Bentley; Scott Carson; Jim Crolley; Jim Marshall; John McKnight; Michael Kerr; Andy Harvey; Paul Murray; Grant Wilkes and Dougie Sharpe.
