CAMERON MENZIES might have his eye on success at the PDC World Darts Championships when the tournament gets under way later this week - but the Muirkirk ace hasn't forgotten his local roots.

Cammy warmed up for the Alexandra Palace tournament - the jewel in the crown for any pro darts player - by teaming up with Ricky Menzies and Julie Ward to compete in the New Cumnock Darts League's three-person team event at the Empire on Friday night.

But his efforts weren't enough to help his team to victory - or even to a place in the final.

Cammy, Julie and Ricky had to be content with a place as one of the tournament's losing semi-finalists as Jamie Curran, Conner Curran and Bobby Templeton from Mauchline secured victory.

The runners-up were Bryan Neil, Kenny Murray and Scott McPheators of Glenmuir, while the tournament's other beaten semi-finalists were Robert Dean, Stevie Gormley and Jim Mitchell of New Cumnock Bowling Club.

Cammy's first match at the PDC tournament is in the opening round this Friday, December 15, when he'll face world number 83 Rusty-Jake Rodriguez.
