BRIAN McGINTY reckons his Cumnock troops have every chance of pulling off what would be a major shock as they prepare to face Dumbarton in front of the live TV cameras on Friday night.

Nock welcome Stevie Farrell’s side to Townhead Park in the second round of the Scottish Cup in a tie which will be broadcast live on BBC Scotland.

Speaking to the club’s social media team after watching his team progress to the third round of the South Challenge Cup on Saturday with a comfortable 7-0 win at home to Upper Annandale, McGinty said: “It’s a great opportunity for the boys – it’ll not be a fitness thing, because we’re both part-time, and I would back our boys’ fitness against any of the part-time teams.

“The reason some of [Dumbarton’s] players are at their level is a consistency thing. I don’t think they’ve got better players than us – I think it’s about consistency of performance, and I believe that our boys have got enough.

“If we get enough of them playing at their maximum, we’ve got a chance."
