Cumnock manager Brian McGinty hailed ‘on fire’ striker Jordan Moore after he notched a double in their 2-1 derby win over Auchinleck Talbot.

The forward joined the Nock in December and has been an instant success at Townhead Park.

Going into their derby match against Talbot the attacker had already netted seven times for Cumnock.

That tally including a double in their 4-0 win over Benburb at Townhead in league duty a fortnight ago.

So, Moore came into the game in fine form and took no time at all to make an impact in the West of Scotland Football League Premier Division match at Beechwood Park.

Andy McLaughlin’s low cross being turned in by the hitman at the back post to put the away side ahead on 11 minutes.

Their lead did not last for long however with the Bot roaring back to bag an equaliser just 60 seconds later.

Jamie Glasgow’s corner from the left being turned in by Craig McCracken’s flicked finish.

That was to be the end of the first half scoring with both sides going in at the break level at 1-1.

In the second half, Moore popped up again to bag his ninth goal of the season.

The striker turning Auchinleck defender Neil McPherson inside out before slotting in at the near post past Andrew Leishman.

That turned out to be the match winner as McGinty’s men racked up their fifth win in a row.

Speaking to the Chronicle, McGinty said: “I think Jordan is on fire at the moment and he is playing with so much confidence, which is great to see for a young player.

“He felt a bit hard done by as he did not get a chance to show what he is all about at Pollok.

“So, when he came here I did not promise him he would play every week what I promised him was he would get a chance.

“He has taken the opportunity with both hands and his performances have kept himself in the team.

“He has proven to everybody that he can more than hold his own at this level and he will score goals at this level.”
