Cumnock manager Brian McGinty rubbished talks of the Nock’s record against Auchinleck Talbot and insists they go into the match on a fresh slate this weekend.

The Bot have often got the better of Cumnock in recent years, including a dramatic 3-2 win in the West of Scotland Football League Premier Division earlier in the season.

However, under new boss McGinty the Nock have seen an upturn in results with their 4-0 win over Benburb at the weekend being their fourth win on the spin.

Speaking to the Chronicle, McGinty said: “We have beaten good teams in recent weeks so we have to be confident going into the game.

“People talk about records against Talbot for Cumnock but it does not really matter.

“It was not a team I was managing that have lost games against Talbot.

“A lot of the players have not lost against Talbot for Cumnock.

“So, the name of the team and the shirt they play in doesn’t affect us.

“The previous record of games does not affect anything on Saturday.

“What matters is how well we play, if we play as well as we can there is every chance we will win the game.”
