THE manager of Auchinleck Talbot’s under-18s has praised his side’s reaction to being knocked out of the SFA Youth Cup.
Scott Campbell hailed the attitude of his players after they bounced back from their cup disappointment to chalk up a comprehensive derby win over local rivals Townhead United.
The young Bot side had travelled to Inverness Caledonian Thistle at the end of January looking to extend their dream run in the competition – but their hopes were dashed when Harry Hennem’s goal gave the home side a 1-0 win and a place in the semi-finals of the tournament.
Talbot did not have time to mope however as days later they were back in league business against their local rivals – and the 8-0 win banished the painful memories of their cup exit.
Speaking to the Chronicle, Campbell said:”Two days later, we were into a derby game against Townhead.
“We made a number of changes because the players were weary and we had a couple of injuries as well.
“So, we were a bit under pressure but the players went out and did really well scoring eight goals and it was a great way to bounce back.”
