Auchinleck Talbot manager Tommy Sloan says their first half performance took the ‘sting’ out of the match, as they beat Clydebank 2-0 at the weekend.

The Bot went into the match looking to continue their Premier Division title charge against a Bankies side trying to do the same.

However, it was Auchinleck who were on the front foot early on in the match at Holm Park, taking the lead in the ninth minute.

Graham Wilson ended a lovely Talbot move with a cool finish.

The away side doubled their lead midway through the first half, with Bryan Boylan managing to squeeze his header in at the back post.

That was how the scoreline ended in Glasgow, with the Bot now back at the top of the table.

Speaking to the Chronicle, Sloan said: “I thought we started the game pretty well and managed to get a couple of goals in front after half an hour.

"So, that took a bit of sting out of the game to be honest.

“I was really happy, especially with the first half. We had to look a start better than we have recently, we have been going a goal down in a lot of matches, so the start at the weekend was one pleasing aspect.”
