Lugar Boswell Thistle manager Greg Gallagher believes it was “useful” to have a free week.

While most clubs were in action in the Challenge Cup, Lugar had an opportunity to spend more time on the training pitch ahead of this weekend’s Conference B clash with Greenock Juniors who remain unbeaten.

Gallagher told the Chronicle: “The free week gave us a chance to work on a few things.

“We are only training once a week and then straight into a game on a Saturday so not playing last weekend gave us some time to work on things and work with the boys a bit more. Greenock will be a good test but that’s what you want to have in football.

“You want to play against the best teams you can. They are the in-form team in our league and we will be able to see what we can do and ultimately what progression we have made.”

Elsewhere, Kello Rovers return to league duty with a home match to bottom of the table Ardeer Thistle.

Kello crashed out of the Challenge Cup last weekend after a 2-1 defeat away to Linlithgow Rose and were left frustrated after the home side’s winner appeared to come off the player’s

hand.
