Lugar Boswell Thistle boss Greg Gallagher was left to rue his side’s missed opportunities as they succumbed to a second consecutive 2-1 defeat, this time at the hands of Irvine Victoria.

Lugar took the lead at Victoria Park midway through the first-half thanks to Scott Sherrie but in the second-half the home side got two quick goals including a penalty and held on for all three-points.

It’s Lugar’s third straight defeat in Conference B this season.

Manager Gallagher told the Chronicle: “It was a game of two-halves.

“In the first-half we did well, controlled the game, and could have been up by two or three but in the second-half you could see a few of the legs were starting to go.

“A lot of the boys coming into the team haven’t played competitively since March but the two goals we conceded were terrible. We gave away a penalty and defended poorly.

“I have definitely seen improvements since taking over.

“Before we came in there were heavy defeats and that past two weekends we have lost 2-1 and the game on Saturday we could have taken something from.”
