AUCHINLECK Talbot boss Tommy Sloan admitted he feared his team had blown their chance of victory in the West Region Sectional League Cup semi-final.
But he was delighted to see them edge out Beith 2-1 to set up a final clash with Lanark United.
Sloan said: "It was a good game, Beith dominated the first although we always posed a threat. There weren't many chances in the first half but the second half was far more open. We thought we had missed our chance when we missed the penalty and had another one cleared off the line.
"But Mark Shankland came up with a great finish and he combined well with fellow sub Graham Wilson.
I'm delighted to be in the final and we would love to retain it but have a few big games before that."
Sloan is now fully focused on Saturday's William Scottish Cup second preliminary round clash at Camelon.
He said: "It's a massive game for us as we want to be in the draw with the senior clubs.
