UNBEATEN Kilwinning Rangers wer e dubbed “outstanding”! by boss Chris Strain after putting Irvine Meadow to the sword.

They won 2-1 at Meadow Park on Saturday.

He said: “The players’ attitude, work-rate and desire to help each other is brilliant, so I couldn’t be any happier.

“Steven Tan missed the last two days but got right up the pitch when he came on, that typified the group of players.

“Dean and Carlo got the goals but if you look at the overall performance we were outstanding.

“We’ve made a good start, have a home game against Benburb on Saturday and hopefully the crowd will drive us on to another victory.”

Meadow boss Brian McGinty said his side were “not at the races”.

He said: “Credit to Chris and his team but it was a really bad performance. Only one or two got pass marks.

“We never looked like getting a second goal.

“We lost two really bad goals but it’s not like us. Now we need to look at that.

“It wasn’t a bad performance before the goal but after that we weren’t at the races and Kilwinning were the better team, we were second best in the middle of the park.

“If one our chances had gone in it would have changed the whole dynamic of the game.

“We have a hard game at Beith on Sunday but at least have two nights of training before that. There will be changes for the next game.”
