HIGHLY-rated new Glenafton Athletic midfielder/striker Ryan Nisbet is excited about the prospect of joining forces with a host of former team-mates after agreeing a move to the New Cumnock Premiership side.

Ex-Ayr United first team player Nisbet left Kilwinning Rangers after two seasons to join Craig McEwan’s team.

Now he hopes he can kick-start his career after latterly being unable to command a regular starting place at Abbey Park.

The new recruit said: “This is a good opportunity and new challenge for me.

“I felt I could have done better last season although wasn’t always getting a game.

“Glenafton have a very strong squad and have been very successful in recent years.

“I know Kyle McAusland, Cammy Marlow and Dale Moore from playing with them at Ayr United, as well as Craig Pettigrew from Kilwinning Rangers and that was a factor in me joining the club.

“It will be good to work with them again and I will car share with Craig as we have a fair way to travel.

“I look forward to the season and hope we can challenge for trophies.

“Standards are high in the junior game and I look forward to the pre-season.”

Manager McEwan said: “I watched Ryan at Kilwinning late last season and am sure he would have liked to play more regularly.

“He has a lot of pace and experience in the game. I’m sure he will be an important player for us.”

Meanwhile Glens have just completed the signing of midfielder Lee Gallacher from Kirkintilloch Rob Roy.

Assistant boss Craig Potter said: “Lee is a good player who has done well at Rob Roy.

“He carries a goal threat in his game and should do well for us.

“It’s important to freshen up the squad for the season.”
