AUCHINLECK TALBOT toppled Super League Premier Division leader Kilwinning Rangers as they continued their quest for silverware.

Dwayne Hyslop's sixth goal in six games saw Talbot win 1-0 at Abbey Park to move with four points of the Buffs.

It is now in Talbot's hands as they sit third in the table with two games in hand on the Buffs and three in hand on new leaders Beith.

After the game, goalscorer Hyslop said: "We knew it was going to be a tough game coming up here. We've had a few tough games this week. We scored early doors so it got us going.

"After that game we go [to Girvan] on a high. Hopefully we can pick up another three points and go and have a big push now."

A hotly-contested local derby at Loch Park saw CUMNOCK get the better of rivals GLENAFTON ATHLETIC.

Pauls Burns scored the only goal of the game to send Peter Leonard's side into the quarter finals of the Ayrshire Weekly Press Cup and end Glenafton's final hope of silverware this season.

The title fight took another twist in the Ayrshire District League as CRAIGMARK BURNTONIANS thumped Irvine Victoria 3-0 at Station Park.

Goals from Scott Dempster, Declan Dunlop and Murray Johnston saw Burntonians move to within three points of their opponents with two games in hand.

The result also guaranteed that Craigmark would finish in the top four but they are now just five points from automatic promotion.

LUGAR BOSWELL THISTLE kept alive their hopes of a promotion play-off as they beat Ardeer Thistle 3-1 in Stevenston.

The Jaggy Bunnets are now just one point behind fourth-placed Whitletts Victoria but they have played two games more.

Elsewhere, KELLO ROVERS lost 3-1 away to Super League First Division champions Petershill and MUIRKIRK kept their chances of avoiding relegation alive with a 0-0 draw against Ardrossan Winton Rovers.
