ADAM Hall has been named in the Team Scotland badminton squad for the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games.

The 22-year-old from Mauchline has enjoyed a recent run of success in the BWF International Series picking up titles in Ireland, Turkey and Iceland alongside doubles partner Alex Dunn. The pair took home the men's doubles title at the Scottish Championships this year.

Dunn has also been named in the eight-strong badminton team for the Games in April.

And Hall said: “We’re looking to try and do well in Austria and Germany. We are close to being in the top four ranked pairs for the Gold Coast so we really want to get into the top four to give us a high seeding and the best chance to get a medal. I feel that’s well within our capabilities if we go out there and play the best we can.”

The other athletes named in the squad that will take on top seeds India in the mixed team event are Glasgow 2014 silver medalist Kirsty Gilmour, Kieran Merrilees, men's doubles pairing Martin Campbell and Patrick MacHugh and Hall's fellow Commonwealth debutant's Eleanor O’Donnell from Beith and Julie MacPherson.
