GLASGOW residents have been told to brace themselves for disruption amid a Met Office weather forecast for the city and other parts of Scotland. 

The national weather service has warned of heavy rain today (Monday, November 7) throughout the evening and night.

The rain is likely to cause flooding of homes and businesses and is expected to impact bus and train services across the Greater Glasgow area as well as car journey times.

The yellow weather warning is set to last from 3pm to 11:59pm.

The cloudy and rainy weather is expected to last throughout much of the week with some sunny spells.

What to expect from the Met Office weather forecast?   

Monday (November 7)

  • There is as much as a 95% + chance of rain at around 7pm  
  • Heavy rain throughout the day
  • Southerly winds that could reach as high as 31mph
  • Temperatures are to feel no higher than 12 degrees.
  • Humidity could reach 90% by 5pm.

Tuesday (November 8)

  • The chance of rain could be 90% at 1am.
  • The humidity could be as high as 86%.
  • Southerly winds could reach as high as 27mph at 1am.

Wednesday (November 9)

  • The weather is expected to improve on Wednesday with periods of brightness but humidity could be around 88% at 6am.
  • Southwesterly winds as high as 28mph are also expected.
  • However, there will be a chance of rain of up to 30%.

Thursday, Friday, and the weekend

  • Thursday could have wind speeds of 41mph and humidity of 85% while temperatures could reach highs 14C.
  • Friday will see a 50% chance of rain and see winds as high as 38mph with temperatures feeling no higher than 12C.
  • Saturday will see bright spells and have a low chance of rain with temperatures feeling as high as 12C.
  • Sunday will be dry and winds of up to 18mph with temperatures feeling as high as 13C.

The BBC has predicted a similarly wet and windy week, with flooding and travel disruption expected tonight.

The rest of the week will experience cloudy and rainy conditions with small spells of sun.
