When you think of haunted locations you picture a creepy old castle, or a derelict Victorian house. Perhaps even an old, abandoned hospital.

The images of haunted locations are all much the same, eerie and creepy… So, an airport doesn’t exactly fit that description.

Yet according to research by Holidu, Heathrow Airport is in the Top 10 most haunted locations in the UK, ranking in at number 4 on the list.

Why is Heathrow Airport haunted?

If Heathrow’s spooky level is new to you, you won’t be the only one as it is relatively unknown.

One of the main stories about Heathrow involves a tragic plane crash that happened in 1948. On the scene of the crash, a man appeared asking if anyone had seen his briefcase. Later when searching the crash firefighters reported seeing the body of the same man amongst the wreckage.

Since then, the briefcase carrying ghost has been spotted on airport runways multiple times. In fact, in 1970 the Heathrow Airport radar office picked up a signal which looked like a person on the runway. When emergency services rushed to the scene, no one was there.

So, next time you’re planning on going ghost spotting, add Heathrow Airport to your list of haunted places.
