The public consultation will soon close on plans for a new house to be built in Muirkirk.

The application, by JKM Consultancy, would see a new home and two parking spaces built on the vacant land across from Muirkirk Parish Church on Kirk Green.

Lodged back in December, the expiry date to have your say on the plans is March 4, with a determination deadline currently set for April 20.

Plans for a single house to be built on this land have been lodged twice before, but these were never taken forward.

Ayrshire Roads Alliance and Scottish Water have no objections to the plans.

Consent was also sought from West of Scotland Archaeology Service (WOSAS).

A spokesperson for them said: "Given that the current application affects the same area of ground as these earlier proposals, I would therefore reiterate the comments made in response to them.

"The new house proposed under the current application would therefore be erected in an area that appears to have remained unoccupied from at least the mid 18th century onwards, and while this may suggest that it could produce buried deposits associated with earlier phases of occupation, this potential does not appear to be high enough to warrant archaeological work.

"I would advise that I would not consider archaeological work to be required in relation to the current application."
