AN EVENT to mark International Overdose Awareness Day will take place in Cumnock at the start of next week.
Organised by the East Ayrshire Lived Experience Panel and East Ayrshire Alcohol and Drugs Partnership, the event will run from 11am to 4pm and aims to remember those lost to overdose while raising awareness of the challenges faced by rural communities.
The day will begin with a walk through Cumnock town centre at 11am, followed by a remembrance ceremony led by provost Claire Leitch. Maree Todd MSP, minister for drugs and alcohol policy, is also due to address the gathering.
Community stalls, local support services, food and music will be available throughout the event at Woodroad Park.
Organisers are promoting the day under the banner: "No town too small, no one left behind."
