AN AUCHINLECK care home team have landed a "good" rating following a recent inspection.
Berryknowe Service is a combined housing support and care-at-home service in the village, for a maximum of 10 adults over 16-years-old with a learning disability and/or mental health conditions.
The Care Inspectorate paid an unannounced visit to the facility in late May and ranked Berryknowe "good" for planning care and support.
In their report, inspectors revealed: "People were safe and protected from harm and could have confidence in the organisation providing their care and support.
"People experienced safe and supportive care that promoted their wellbeing.
"Staff knew people well and responded with warmth, patience and respect. This helped people feel comfortable, settled and secure in their home."
The report added: "Relatives spoke very positively about the support provided. One shared that they had 'so much respect for the staff' and that their family member received 'excellent care', while another described the service as feeling 'like a wee family'."
However, inspectors found the content of support plans to be "variable" and called for improvement before the next inspection.
They noted: "Some plans contained useful information, but others did not fully reflect people's current needs or the level of support being provided.
"Important aspects of care and support were not always clearly described, including emotional support needs, distress, behaviours that may impact on the individual or others, restrictions, and changing health needs."
People are supported to maintain their own tenancies within Berryknowe, which comprises individual rooms with ensuite facilities, two spacious lounges, and two communal kitchens.
The smaller of the two lounges offers a quieter environment where people can relax. The accommodation is on one level with easy access to the large enclosed garden area.
At the time of the latest inspection nine people were being supported by the service.
