PUPILS and staff from the Robert Burns Academy have raised almost £1,000 for charity after taking part in their biggest Roon the Toon event yet this year.
Every year, keen runners from the school take on the challenge through the streets of Kilmarnock, raising money for a charity or group in the process.
This year was no different, with over 50 school representatives taking part in the 10km run on Sunday, June 7.
Almost £1,000 was raised for 'Memories are Better than Dreams', which was partly founded by local woman Louise Wright back in 2016.
As well as supporting families after they lose their child, the charity also helps to set up memory days for children coming to the end of their lives.
The RBA team was once again set up by Mr Shepherd at the school.
He said: "Massive well done again this year to team Robert Burns Academy at Roon the Toon.
"We raised almost £1,000 for our chosen charity and again won both male and female team categories for educational establishments.
"Thank you to the organisers, Ayrshire Athletics, for another great day."
Since the super school opened, hundreds of pupils and staff have raised thousands of pounds for various different charities by running in this event and in the Great Scottish Run each October.
Previous Roon the Toon runs have supported the likes of SAMH, Yipworld and Ayrshire Cancer Support.
