TAKEAWAYS, cafes, village shops and even a primary school in Ayrshire have been told to improve their food hygiene standards, according to official data.
Scotland’s Food Hygiene Information Scheme shows businesses in every part of the county are currently rated 'Improvement Required'.
Under the scheme, food businesses inspected by council environmental health officers are given a public rating of either 'Pass' or 'Improvement Required'.
An 'Improvement Required' mark is used where inspectors find significant or repeated problems that must be put right, such as poor cleaning, cross‑contamination risks, or gaps in food safety paperwork.
According to the data, which is available to view on the Food Standards Scotland website, six places in the region were told they needed to improve at some point this year.
The ratings are published so customers can see how local outlets are performing before deciding where to eat or shop.
Below are the establishments in each Ayrshire area given an 'Improvement required' grade this year.
East Ayrshire
