MUSIC sessions specifically designed for people with memory issues or dementia will be launching in Netherthird soon.
Alzheimer Scotland will run the sessions at Netherthird Community Centre from Thursday, June 4 from 2pm to 4pm and will run monthly throughout 2026, with dates scheduled for June, July, August, September, October, November and December.
The dates will be:
- Thursday, June 4
- Thursday, July 16
- Thursday, August 20
- Thursday, September 17
- Thursday, October 1
- Thursday, November 19
- Thursday, December 10
Each session features one hour of live music followed by tea, coffee and conversation.
The sessions have been based around research which shows music therapy can significantly improve mood, alertness and engagement in people with dementia, whilst reducing anxiety and depression.
The sessions are completely free to attend, though a donation tin will be available for those who wish to contribute, with a suggested donation of £3.
