ROBERT Burns Academy pupils had fun with bees, owls and robots at a recent workshop in the school.
Organised once again by the school's science department and Mr Mackie of biology, hundreds of youngsters got to interact with various workshops put on by a range of companies from across Ayrshire and beyond.
Included in the day were learning how bees work, seeing a robot dog in action, and getting to hold an owl.
The day offers S2 pupils the chance to experience a range of activities and potential job opportunities in the future.
As well as the fun with animals, birds and robots, the youngsters also got the chance to create their own model of a wind turbine, learn how police crime scenes work and navigate a plane to land via a flight simulator.
It was the biggest STEM event at the school yet, with 17 different companies getting involved.

Despite the event taking weeks of preparation, the school sees it as an important tool in the development of the youngsters at a crucial age, as it could pique an interest in something they may not have otherwise thought about.
Delighted at how the day went, Mr Mackie said: "It's great to see the kids getting to see so many different things and enjoying themselves as well.
"The support from the various companies has been fantastic and we're grateful to have so many of them along.
"These workshops are important for the youngsters to learn about and experience different things and they can see the various opportunities open to them after school."
