PUPILS from Lochnorris Primary School shone at a recent poetry festival held in Muirkirk.
Three pupils proudly represented their school at the Lapraik Poetry Festival, which was held in Muirkirk Parish Church.
The festival is run in memory of local poet John Lapraik and involves children competing with pupils from other primary schools in the Barony Campus cluster.
Lochnorris were delighted to be placed first in both the P3-P5 and P6-P7 categories, and had one of their pupils awarded as overall winner of the 2026 schools competition.
Bella and Ava gained first pace in their categories, with Ava also being named as the overall winner.
A proud school representative said: "A special congratulations must go to Ava who was awarded overall winner of the Lapraik Poetry Schools Competition for 2026.
"Each pupil was outstanding and a credit to Lochnorris. Their efforts in learning and rehearsing their poems were clear, and their hard work has paid off.
"We are very proud of the commitment and determination you have shown across the year, and of your successes.
"Thank you to our parents and carers who supported us to make this event possible, we are very appreciative.
"Well done, team Lochnorris!"
