A SELECTION of the top people taking part in this year's Sanquhar Riding of the Marches have been chosen once again.
According to the Town of Sanquhar website, the event dates back as far as 1730, and has been a staple in the village ever since.
Every year, the event includes pipe band performances, the crowning of the queen, installation of the principals, ride outs all week, a bonfire and fireworks, and loads more.
The main day of this year's Sanquhar Riding of the Marches will be Saturday, August 15.
This year's Queen will be Georgi Grierson, 1st attendant will be Gracie Duncan, 2nd attendant is Murrin Houston and 3rd attendant will be Roxie Graham.
The Herald for this year is Isaac Hamilton, with Elliott Masterton as the Page.
The Cornet Elect is Kai Bell, the Cornet Lass Elect is Billie Haddow, and the Ensign Elect is Roger Murray.
The festivities will begin on Friday, August 7 and will conclude on Sunday, August 16.
Organisers said: "Preparations are well underway and the full programme of events will be published closer to the week. Watch this space for more updates in the run-up to August.
