Cumnock’s Fiona Nisbet appeared on hit TV show The Weakest Link and made it through to the final three. Fiona was the strongest link in four rounds but missed out on the £4,000 prize fund.
Members and leaders of the Dalmellington Parish Church group The Trailblazers held a sponsored walk in 2004 to raise fund £550 for the Abbas Rest Orphans in Malawi.
The River Ayr Walkway in Catrine was officially opened to the public in September 2004. It would form part of a 66km walk from the sea to the source of the river.
Bute House hosted its annual Summer Fayre in 2004 and Provost Jane Darnbrough was presented with flowers from Assistant Matron Margot Barclay and Matron Mary Kerr for performing the opening duties.
New Cumnock Swimming Pool made sure their last day of the 2004 season went off with a splash. To mark the end of a successful summer programme, the pool was packed as mums and dads and kids enjoyed some party fun.
Pupils from Muirkirk Primary got a first-hand opportunity to see life on an opencast site in September 2004. The kids visited the Spireslack Opencast and got the chance to see how everything worked.
