A commemorative event was held in East Ayrshire at the weekend to mark International Workers’ Memorial Day.
The day is internationally recognised to remember workers killed, disabled, injured or made unwell by their work.
Representatives from East Ayrshire Council and local politicians marked the with an annual wreath-laying at the memorial tree in Dean Castle Country Park.
A two-minute silence was also held to remember those workers from the local area who have been killed or injured at work.
Carol Mochan MSP for South Scotland was one of those in attendance.
Ms Mochan said: “It was such a pleasure to see so many organisations and individuals come together to honour those workers who have perished at work.
“Each year the Trades Union Council ensure that there is a place and time to come together at the memorial tree in Kilmarnock to remember those who have been injured or killed at work.
“This is sadly not something that we remember in the distant past.
"Every day, in every part of the world, including our own, are men and women injured or killed at their work. And we will remember them.”
