A nursery in Upper Nithsdale has been given areas for improvement in an otherwise positive care report.
The Care Inspectorate recently published a report following a visit to Kelloholm Nursery, operated by Dumfries and Galloway Council.
Findings of the report included that children were happy and settled in the nursery on the days of inspection.
It was added that the new senior leadership team had driven improvements in the nursery to ensure support positive outcomes for children and their families.
The watchdog said that the team should work in partnership with families to continue to develop effective communication.
Parents of children at the nursery provided positive feedback in the report on staff, with one commenting: "I feel that staff know my child well".
However, some staff and families told inspectors that they think more staff available would support consistency and continuity of care.
Areas for improvement included mentioning that, to improve the quality of children’s experiences, staff should ensure that children are meaningfully involved in leading their play and learning through a balance of planned and spontaneous experiences.

The report added: "Planning and record keeping should support staff to plan and provide meaningful experiences to meet children's needs.
"To achieve this, personal plans should be consistently recorded and contain quality information pertinent to each child."
A Dumfries and Galloway Council spokesperson said: "Practitioners have worked to significantly improve the quality of provision at Kelloholm Nursery, and we are pleased that this has been recognised by Care inspectorate during the recent inspection as positively impacting children’s experiences.
"Officers will continue to support the service to embed improvements and further develop the service for the benefit of children and families of the Kelloholm Nursery community."
