This week we look back at the stories and photos from the Cumnock Chronicle back in April 2004.
Who can you spot in these pictures from 20 years ago?

TV presenter Tam Cowan had an arresting experience when he arrived in Cumnock. The funnyman had been invited after slating the town in a newspaper column. But he saw the funny side after being taken to Cumnock police office on charges of mugging a Greggs delivery driver. Tam was quickly released and later posed for photos with locals.
Castle Primary pupil Nicola Kennedy won a silver medal in the Ayrshire Burns verse speaking competition in 2004. She was set to take on pupils from across Scotland in the national finals.
There was a mixture of sadness and happiness in Valley Court in Patna in 2004 as a treasured home help retired. Betty Stevenson was given a great send off into her retirement by colleagues and friends.
The streets of Dalmellington were awash with budding athletes in April 2004 when 250 participants took part in the 5k challenge. Among the many who donned their running shoes for the charity run, organised by the BBC, were a host of telly stars including Bryan Burnett, pictured, and Fred MacAulay.
