TWO restaurants serving Spanish food in Glasgow have been named among the best eateries in the UK for paella.

The research looked at the Google and Tripadvisor ratings of more than 40 popular paella spots to find the 10 best across the country.

Of the eateries named, five were found to be in Scotland with Glasgow and Edinburgh making up all of the Scottish entries.

This comes after National Paella Day (Wednesday, March 27) when lovers of this iconic Spanish dish celebrate its contribution to the culinary landscape.

Malaga Tapas on St Andrews Road in the Southside and Cafe Andaluz on St Vincent Place were the two Glasgow restaurants named among the best in the UK for paella.

Malaga Tapas was placed fourth on the list with an index score of 61.89 out of 100. Cafe Andaluz was given a score of 56.40 out of 100 and placed 10th on the list.

Three Edinburgh eateries were also named on the Betway list with tapas3, La Casa Dalry and La Sal being placed numbers 2, 8 and 9 respectively.

Discussing the places named, the researchers said: "The research ranks El Rincon in Bristol as the number one paella spot in the UK and Ireland with an index score of 64.40 out of 100 and the only spot that was analysed with a Google Review rating of 4.8.

"Edinburgh lands three places in the top 10 with tapas3, La Casa Dalry and La Sal all featuring with index scores of over 57 out of 100.

"When it comes to Ireland, although none of the analysed spots feature in the top 10, the research revealed that Las Tapas de Lola in Dublin is the number one place for paella in Ireland with an index score of 56.34 out of 100."
