East Ayrshire Council's School Streets initiative could soon be coming to three more primaries in the area.

The initiative aims to limit the amount of traffic around primary schools in region at the beginning and end of the school days.

Successful implementations of the project have been undertaken at Catrine, St Sophia and Netherthird primaries.

Now, according to East Ayrshire Council's roads budget for 2024/25, three schools could be set for the scheme.

Auchinleck, Bellsbank and Dalrymple primaries could become the latest schools to see the project rolled out in the spring and summer time.

The local authority has said that traffic, transportation and road safety improvement programmes will continue to be delivered in partnership with Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT), Transport Scotland and SUSTRANS, with a focus on improving road safety, enhancing the transport network and promoting accessible travel choices.

It was added that further projects could be rolled out to more schools after the summer break.

No details have yet been released for which roads would be affected the implementation of the strategy in the three new schools.
