Roadworks in Cumnock could be in place for more than a week, according to the company carrying the work out.
Scottish Water's contractors Clancy will begin works on Auchinleck Road in Cumnock from today (March 19) to repair a damaged sewer which has caused some localised flooding.
Work is set to last for up to nine days, to allow for any unforeseen circumstances.
However, Scottish Water say that the work could be completed before then, if all goes to plan.
Temporary traffic lights are being set up and managed during peak times.
A Scottish Water spokesperson said: “Road traffic management will be in place on a stretch of Auchinleck Road, Cumnock from Tuesday, March 19.
"This is to enable repairs to a damaged sewer pipe following reports of flooding in the area.
"Temporary traffic lights will be in operation and will be manned during peak hours to help keep delays to a minimum for road users.
"The team will work as quickly and safely as possible to complete the repair and get things back to normal for road users.
"We thank everyone for their patience and understanding.”
