Cumnock enjoyed another successful performance from CAMPS - the Cumnock Area Musical Production Society - as they got into the spirit of the Von Trapp family. For five days they performed the popular Rogers and Hammerstein musical ‘Sound of Music’ at Cumnock Academy in March 2014.

Every Dalmellington Primary pupil formed a giant V shape for a photo to promote the Doon Valley Pharmacy No Smoking Day campaign in March 2014.

The green space area at Catrine Early Childhood Centre was blossoming in March 2014. And the Chronicle’s photographer dropped by to take some pics of the youngsters enjoying their lovely outdoor space.

Cumnock’s world famous composer James MacMillan was pressing ahead with plans for the town’s first major music festival. The first Cumnock Tryst was set to take place in October 2014 and James said: “It is a great delight to me that plans for The Cumnock Tryst are advancing well. I am very excited about our first festival.”

The enormous job of restoring a Kirkconnell opencast coal mine was in full swing as contractors sought to revitalise the old site. Local man Colin Haining seized the chance to work closer to home on the project.

These six S2 pupils from Auchinleck Academy competed in the Go4Set Science and Engineering competition back in March 2014.
