A community day is to be held in New Cumnock this week to mark the official takeover of the town's former Lloyds Pharmacy.

Numark Pharmacy is set to host the open day in New Cumnock on Thursday, March 7 at 10am, as it takes over the premises, which will now be known as Rowlands Pharmacy New Cumnock.

Rowlands Pharmacy New Cumnock, on Castle, is the latest to reopen in Scotland and will be run by Pharmacy managers Rachel Marshall and Sally McCulloch, along with a team of colleagues from the local community.

It marks the latest switch, following the opening of the Cumnock branch last year.

Numark says the New Cumnock branch will offer customers access to prescription dispensary, vaccination services, over the counter medications, emergency contraception, and medication review.

The team will be on-hand on the day to discuss the enhanced Pharmacy First Scotland service, answer any questions, and speak to local people to get to know them better as they celebrate the pivotal role of community pharmacy.

Recognising their role within the community, Ms Marshall and Ms McCulloch and their team will also be joined by local resident Nessie Mackie to cut the all-important ribbon.

Pharmacy manager Ms Marshall said: “We can’t wait to open our doors to the community in New Cumnock. It’s set to be a special day and having Nessie join us will make it a morning to remember.

“It will be great to chat to customers and celebrate community pharmacy and its importance to those who live in New Cumnock.”

The branch will be open from Monday- Friday 9am-6pm and Saturday 9am-5pm.
