MEMBERS of a brass band in the Doon Valley are making final preparations for two big events, on stage and off, in their calendar this month.
The Dalmellington Band, under the baton of conductor Erik Janssen, will compete in the Scottish Brass Band Championships at Perth Concert Hall this weekend, playing Variations on an Enigma by Philip Sparke on Sunday, March 10.
The band is one of 10 competing in the event's championship section - the top tier - alongside some of the biggest names in the Scottish brass band world, and are aiming to improve on the impressive third place they achieved at the 2023 event.
Closer to home, the band is holding a Bounce Bingo fund-raising evening at Dalmellington Community Centre on Saturday, March 16, with four games of bingo, mini games, a licensed bar, music and dancing.
Tickets for the fund-raiser cost £10 and must be booked in advance at ticketsource.co.uk/dalmellington-band.
Doors open at 7pm and the first game begins at 8pm.
