A SITE in Lugar with planning permission for a development of eight new homes has been put up for sale.

Rome Developments Ltd, of Nantwich, Cheshire, secured planning approval in January 2023 for the development of four-bedroom properties on vacant land at the former Lugar Ironworks site, off Peesweep Brae.

Concerns were raised around the 15-home application, with the Ayrshire Roads Alliance saying the application, which is still awaiting a decision from East Ayrshire Council (EAC), should be refused.

Objections from locals nearby were also lodged against the plans.

Plans for the 15 homes have not been officially withdrawn from the East Ayrshire Council planning portal.
