Cumnock Chronicle: Glenbuck

Glenbuck football historian Robert Gillan tracked down the missing Ayrshire Challenge Cup in 2014. The trophy was first played for in 1890 and was won by the legendary Glenbuck Cherrypickers, who went on to lift it three years running. The cup had not been seen since 1952 – but Robert discovered it was locked in a cupboard at the North Ayrshire Heritage Centre in Saltcoats. He said: “It’s absolutely fantastic that we’ve found it as it’s a big part of the Glenbuck story.
