A NEW piece of life-saving equipment has been installed in Mauchline as part of efforts to provide free access to the vital kit across East Ayrshire.

Mauchline's community fire station is the latest location to benefit from a freely-available 'public access defibrillator'.

It's part of an East Ayrshire Council plan seeks to provide free access to community accessible defibrillators and cabinets for local community groups and clubs in East Ayrshire.

The latest 'defib' was installed thanks to the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.

It's the fourth public machine in Mauchline, along with one at Centre Stane, the Key Store on Hughfield Road and at Mauchline United Amateur Football Club on Beechgrove Road.

In total, around 40 defibrillators and cabinets have been donated to community groups and clubs across East Ayrshire.

Further details on how the initiative works and how to apply can be found on Defibrillators for communities section of the East Ayrshire Council website, including a list of locations of current defibrillators in East Ayrshire, how to register your defibrillator and information on how to use and maintain the equipment.
