Concerns have been raised over pupils from the Barony Campus travelling in cars without wearing seatbelts.

Road policing officers attended the campus in Cumnock this week after the concerns were raised by members of staff around both pupils and those driving them to and from school.

Officers spoke with parents and pupils at the school to remind them how to keep themselves, and each other safe.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Road policing officers attended at Barony Campus, Cumnock this week regarding concerns from staff about drivers and pupils failing to wear seatbelts when driving to or from the campus.

"Officers engaged with parents and pupils to remind them of keeping themselves safe when driving or walking to school.

"Drivers were reminded that it is their responsibility to ensure all their passengers under 14 years old are wearing a seatbelt or risk a fine for each child not restrained.
