Castle Primary in New Cumnock paid tribute to the National Bard at their own Burns Supper. Ross Murray, who proposed the Toast to the Lasses and Shelley Watson, who replied, came together to toast the Bard.

Mauchline pupils learned how to preserve the gift of life recently. P7 pupils took part in a ‘Heartstart’ course run by the British Heart Foundation and learned how to resuscitate a victim.

Iain Ireland and Chelsee Brown made a huge splash in the waterplay area when our photographer visited Littlemill Nursery in Februay 2004.

A Logan man was chosen to receive the prestigious title of Citizen of the Year in February 2004.
Andrew McSorland was elected by the selection committee following the consideration of a number of nominees. He had unselfishly, for a number of years, collected litter in order to keep the roadsides tidy.

Mauchline pupils said a fond farewell to their favourite school nurse in February 2004. Ruth Crawford had been the nurse for Auchinleck Academy and its feeder schools and after nearly 19 years of service she was retiring.

Cumnock Gala Committee got their 2004 gala fundraising off to a good start with a good old knees up. A 60s’ fancy dress night was held at Cumnock Juniors Social Club and went down a storm with regulars and new party-goers alike.
