This week we're taking a look back at the big stories and photos from the Cumnock area in February 2014.

Hard working pupils from Auchinleck and Cumnock academies were among a large crowd at the 2014 unveiling of the new Wee House show home at Knockroon.
The youngsters had been training in construction skills and were completing their very own Wee House on site.
The superbly-designed home was the brainchild of father and daughter team Ian and Jennifer Hope.

Pupils from Auchinleck Academy celebrated being crowned the Scottish regional winners of the 2014 Coca-Cola Enterprises Real Business Challenge.

Generous staff at Keystore in Mauchline turned a lucky win into a charity donation. The shop was the very lucky winner of a luxury hamper from Cadbury’s - and they generously decided to use the hamper for a Christmas raffle to raise funds for the Ayrshire Hospice, raising £355.

Heavy rains plagued East Ayrshire in February 2014. Football fixtures were disrupted again, while this road between Dalmellington and Straiton was closed due to floods.

A five year plan for the regeneration of New Cumnock was launched in February 2014. Representatives of various local groups came together to launch the New Cumnock Action Plan in the town’s community centre.
