Work is taking place to restore the street lights at a roundabout near Cumnock, with temporary traffic lights being set up.

The Dettingen roundabout at the junction of the A76 and the A70 has been without power for almost a week as a result of what Scottish Power says is a "cable fault".

The issue is causing driving difficulties during the early mornings and late at night.

Scottish Power says work is under way to have the power at the busy junction restored by later this week, but temporary traffic lights are necessary for a 'few days'.

A company spokesperson said:  “The lights near Dettingen roundabout are currently without power due to a cable fault in the surrounding area.

"We aim to have the fault repaired and supply restored to the lights by Wednesday evening.

"There are temporary traffic lights in place to help manage the flow of traffic whilst we carry out work to repair the fault and they will remain in place whilst we reinstate the road following the fault repair.

"We would like to apologise to our customers for any disruption caused.”
