The roadworks on the A76 near Sanquhar have now been delayed by a week.
Major work on a section of the A76 has been delayed due to the weather.
Trunk road maintenance company Amey is set to resurface a stretch of the road near Sanquhar for four nights this week.
The work was due to begin today (Monday, January 15) and last until Friday, January 19.
However, due to adverse weather, the work is now scheduled to start on Tuesday, January 16 and conclude on Saturday, January 20.
Drivers heading south from Sanquhar towards Dumfries will face a huge diversion via Cumnock, Abington, Carronbridge and Thornhill.
Amey said the road will be shut south of Sanquhar between 7pm and 6am every night.
