A bridge near Cumnock will be closed for two weeks from this week to allow repair work to take place.

The Ayrshire Roads Alliance (ARA) who carry out work on behalf of East Ayrshire Council, will be working on the Burnock Bridge on Skares Road.

A 20m road closure is due to be in place from 8am on Monday, January 15 until 5pm on Monday, January 29.

Bridge parapet repair work will be taking place during this closure.

The days and times of the works may be dependent upon the weather conditions but the order will be implemented only when the appropriate signs are displayed.

An alternative route will be signed via the B7046, U728, A70 and back on to the B7046 and vice versa.

ARA bosses say emergency services access will not be affected.
