Cumnock Juniors has received a welcome cash boost from East Ayrshire Council.

The local authority congratulated the team following their historic Scottish Junior Cup win against Rutherglen in June last year.

Findlay Frye scored deep into added time as Nock edged out their opponents to bring the famous trophy back to Townhead Park for the first time since 1989.

In recognition of the achievement, local representatives including councillors Jim McMahon and June Kyle presented a cheque for £1,000 to the team following their weekend match with Kirkintilloch Rob Roy, which finished 1-1 at Townhead Park.

Provost Jim Todd was also present as Sam Jamieson salvaged a point for Cumnock in their first home match of 2024.

The donation is being used towards rebuilding the club's damaged enclosure at Townhead Park.
